Porsche 911 GT America Is the First Car Revealed for 2014 GT Daytona Racing
It is basically a 911 GT3 Cup with some modifications

has announced the first car for new GT Daytona class in the United States Sports Car series. The 2014 Porsche 911 GT America is basically identical to the 991-chassis Porsche 911 GT3 Cup but with a modified rear wing and air intake.

The 911 GT America uses a 4.0-liter aluminum flat-six engine with 470hp and Porsche six-speed sequential gearbox with pneumatic paddle shifters. It gets a motorsport-spec front spoiler, rear diffuser, carbon fiber undertray and USCR-spec rear wing. It also gets quick releases for the brake calipers, fast-filling system for the oil and external oil level display. For added safety, there is a quick-removal system in the roof that allows the driver to be removed if the car is on its side.

“We are hopeful that our current American Le Mans Series GTC customers, along with our Rolex Grand-Am competitors and new teams, will want to take advantage of this early availability,” said Jens Walther, president of Porsche Motorsport North America.

Deliveries for the new car will begin in October for $269,000, plus shipping from Germany and spare parts.

Next year the Grand-Am Rolex Sport Car Series and American Le Mans Series will merge into the United States Sports Car series. There will be four classes in the new racing series – Prototype for LMP2 cars and Daytona Prototypes, Prototype Challenge for the same Oreca-Chevrolet spec cars from the ALMS LMP Challenge class, GT Le Mans for the GTE cars that race at Le Mans and GT Daytona for FIA GT3 cars with a modified rear wing and air restrictor.

The series has still not agreed to a calendar for the 2014 season.

Ну, мне кажется, что RS, все-таки, был дорожной машиной, которую можно было использовать во время гоночного уик-энда... Для чемпионатов высокого европейского и мирового уровня использовали, в основном, RSR. А нынешний GT - классический омологатор без возможности использования на ДОП.

Регламент Транс-Ама более демократичн и свободен, чем тот же регламент АСО или АЛМС. Я думаю, ПСА выпуском этой вариации Капа пошла навстречу американским клиентам, для повышения их конкурентноспособности... И в большей степени это относится именно к серии Транс-Ам, поскольку в АЛМС основное оружие - RSR, а Cup - уже любительским "довеском" идет...

Из описания непонятно что за мотор. 4л мецгер как на гт3рс4 или новый DFI как на гт3. в любом случае не понятно почему с него 470лс снимают всего. Рестриктор и регламент?

Я вспомнил слово America в названии модели. По-моему это было всего один раз (до 991). То, что RS America и GT3 America (Cup) совсем разные машины для разных целей — другой разговор :)
